Local History books and resources

The Local Studies Collection contains a wealth of historical resources on the history of Queanbeyan with  a wide selection of books on the history of Queanbeyan and the surrounding region. It is particular interest to local residents, visitors, historians, descendants of early families, researchers and students.

The Library has a Local Studies Room which includes historical photographs; a small general genealogy collection; a small map collection; some historic monographs from the old Queanbeyan School of Art; a small collection of Queanbeyan ephemera and regalia; Queanbeyan's early rates books and a number of research collections: The Sheedy Memorial Local History Collection and The Collection of Frederick J. McCauley. The Local Studies Collection has recently  acquired a large addition to the research collection of Erroll Lee Scarlett the author of Queanbeyan, District and People. 

The Library has a full set of the Queanbeyan Age dating back to 1860 and also the Chronicle dating back to 1975.
